Wisconsin-Parkside (10-9, 7-3 GLVC): 6 Southern Indiana (10-15, 2-7 GLVC): 5
The University of Southern Indiana baseball team had three leads, but could not salvage the finale of the three-game series with the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, falling 6-5, Sunday afternoon at the USI Baseball Field. USI falls to 10-15 overall and 2-7 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, while UWP goes to 10-9 overall, 7-3 GLVC.
USI was able to score five times on seven hits and the help of four UWP errors, but a Ranger three-run seventh spelled doom for the Eagles. Senior leftfielderÂ
Andy Nucci (Ft. Wayne, Indiana) led the Eagles at the plate, going two-for-three with a triple and two runs scored.
Senior left-handerÂ
Brian Anderson (Brazil, Indiana) took the loss for the Eagles, pitching 6 1/3 innings, allowing five hits and five runs (four earned) while striking out six. Anderson, who falls to 4-3 this year, was followed to the mound by senior right-handerÂ
Dan Tomashek (Ft. Wayne, Indiana) and senior left-handerÂ
Joe Stanisz (Highland, Indiana).
The Eagles resume GLVC action Wednesday, April 2, when the University of Missouri-St. Louis comes to Evansville for a 2 p.m. conference game.
