The University of Southern Indiana women's basketball team fell to Quincy University, 90-62, Thursday evening at the Pepsi Arena in Quincy, Illinois. The Screaming Eagles fall to 8-18 overall, 6-13 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, while the Lady Hawks improve to 20-6 overall and 14-5 in the GLVC.

After shooting 10-of-29 from the floor and committing 15 turnovers in the first stanza, the Eagles found themselves trailing 48-22 at the break. Quincy went 21-of-34 from the floor and scored 19 points off USI turnovers to build the 26-point halftime lead.

The Eagles dished out just three assists in the first half. They finished with just 10 assists for the game.

Despite committing just five second half turnovers, things did not get much better in the second frame as the Eagles fell behind by as many as 39 late in the game. The Eagles shot 35 percent from the floor in the second half while the Lady Hawks connected on half of their 30 attempts from the field.

USI ended the game on a 15-4 run to prevent its first 30-point setback since losing by 31 points to Lewis University during the 1990-91 season.

Leading the Eagles was senior forward/center Africa Sherrod (Ft. Lauderdale, Florida) and junior forward Shajuan Lindsey (Midlothian, Illinois). Sherrod scored 14 points and brought down a game-high-tying nine rebounds while Lindsey added 11 points, all of which came in the second half.

With the University of Wisconsin-Parkside's upset of Northern Kentucky Thursday night, USI will now face the University of Missouri-St. Louis in what amounts to be a playoff game. The two teams are tied for eighth in the GLVC. Tip-off is slated for 1 p.m. at the Mark Twain Building in St. Louis, Missouri.
