The University of Southern Indiana women's basketball lost its fifth straight game Saturday evening at the Physical Activities Center in Evansville, Indiana. USI gave up an 11-4 run, an 8-0 run, and an 8-2 run midway through the second period as it fell to Quincy University, 80-72. The Screaming Eagles fall to 6-14 overall, 4-9 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, while the Lady Hawks improve to 16-4 overall and 10-3 in the GLVC.

USI shot just 31.4 percent from the floor in the first half, but connected on four three's and drained all six of its free throw attempts as it went into the locker room trailing by just two (34-32) at the break.

Senior guard/forward Sarah McIntosh (Cabery, Illinois) scored nine of her game-high 19 points to keep the Eagles close in the first stanza. McIntosh hit three of USI's four three-point buckets in the first period.

After tying the game early in the second half, Quincy used the 11-4 run to take a 47-40 lead with 11:17 remaining in the game. The Eagles battled back to score the next six points, but the 8-0 run later in the closing half put the Eagles into a 59-50 deficit with 8:38 to play in the contest.

Quincy, which shot 66.7 percent from behind the arc in the second half, used the 8-2 run later in the period to put the game out of reach for the Eagles.

Senior forward/center Africa Sherrod (Ft. Lauderdale, Florida) went 6-of-6 from the line to finish with 13 points while junior forward Shajuan Lindsey (Midlothian, Illinois) went 5-of-10 from the floor, including 2-of-3 from behind the arc, to finish with 12 points.

Freshman forward/center Meghann Schenk (Evansville, Indiana) recorded a season-high eight points and seven rebounds while sophomore guard Amber Calhoun (Evansville, Indiana) dished out a career-high five assists.

The Eagles will wait a week to try to put an end to their current slide. USI hosts Kentucky Wesleyan College next Saturday, February 8, in a 5:15 p.m. tip-off at the PAC.
