The University of Southern Indiana women's basketball team forced a season-high 40 turnovers as it defeated the University of Illinois-Springfield, 83-51, Monday evening at the Physical Activities Center in Evansville, Indiana.
USI (8-2) recorded 27 steals and out-rebounded UIS (4-9) 53-40 as the as the Screaming Eagles recorded their third straight win.
The Eagles spread the ball around throughout the contest as four players finished in double figures and eight players scored six or more points.
Junior guard
Jamie Truitt (Owensboro, Kentucky) recorded a game-high 16 points, while freshman point guard
Lauren Parrish (Shepherdsville, Kentucky) chipped in 13 points to go along five rebounds and a game-high six assists.
Sophomore guard
Clarissa Gross (Marion, Illinois) and junior forward/center
Andrea Engleking (Charlottsville, Indiana) each had 11 points. Engleking, who recorded her fourth consecutive double-digit scoring effort, tied senior guard/forward
Shannon Wells (Merrillville, Indiana) with a team-high six rebounds. Wells finished with eight points.
The Eagles, who are winners of five of their last six games, will resume GLVC play this Friday, January 2, when they host the Lewis University (6-5) in a 5:15 p.m. tip-off.
