CANCUN, MEXICO—The University of Southern Indiana women's basketball team forced 36 turnovers and senior forward Shajuan Lindsey (Midlothian, Illinois) scored 22 second-half points as the Screaming Eagles defeated Assumption College, 82-62, Sunday evening at the Torneo Cancun De Basquetbol.

USI (6-2) jumped out to a 28-18 advantage in the first period, but saw its lead slip to three (35-32) at the break.

Assumption (7-4) quickly tied the game at 35 after the intermission however, the Eagles kept their pressure on as they went on a 9-2 run that put them up 44-37 with 17 minutes to play in the game.

Once again, Assumption fought back as the Greyhounds pulled to within 46-45 at the 12-minute mark. From that point, however, the Eagles dominated the game as they reeled off an 18-1 run to take a commanding 64-46 lead with 7:23 to play.

Lindsey helped USI's effort by draining a school-record six second-half three-pointers. Lindsey, who had scored just one point and was 0-for-5 from the field in the first half, connected on all eight of her shots in the second stanza.

Inside, the Eagles benefited from another solid outing from junior forward/center Andrea Engleking (Charlottsville, Indiana). Engleking finished the contest with a USI career-high 14 points on 7-of-11 shooting. She also recorded a team-best seven rebounds.

Fellow classmate Jamie Truitt (Owensboro, Kentucky) added 14 points to go along with three assists and three turnovers, while freshman point guard Lauren Parrish (Shepherdsville, Kentucky) added 13 points, four assists, and a game-high five steals.

The Eagles will conclude their trip south of the border with a 7 p.m. contest with #18 Arkansas Tech University Monday night. ATU (5-2) fell to Assumption, 54-50, Saturday night.
