The University of Southern Indiana men's basketball team dropped its exhibition opener Saturday afternoon as the Screaming Eagles fell to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, 99-76, at the Klotsche Center in Milwaukee.
USI trailed by just nine at the break, but the Panthers reeled off a 22-7 run early in the second half and widen their lead to as many as 33 points later in the contest.
The Eagles forced 25 turnovers but were forced into 29 of their own. In addition, USI was out-rebounded 41-32 in the loss.
Senior center
John Oden (St. Louis, Missouri) led the Eagles with 20 points, 16 of which came in the second period. He also grabbed seven rebounds in 30 minutes of action.
Fellow classmate
Avery Queen (Moreno Valley, California) finished with 11 points and a team-leading five assists while junior guard
Aaron Austin (Chicago Heights, Illinois) came off the bench to record 12 points and a team-high eight rebounds.
USI will finish its exhibition schedule Friday, November 14, when the Bradley Stars visit the Physical Activities Center. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m.
