University of Southern Indiana senior forward
Megan Fitzler (Maryland Heights, Missouri) came off the bench to lead the Screaming Eagles to a 3-0 victory over Kentucky Wesleyan College at Strassweg Field Friday night. USI broke a four-match losing streak to raise its record to 5-4-0 overall, 1-2-0 Great Lakes Valley Conference.
Fitzler powered USI's offense Friday night, scoring two of the three goals off the bench. Her first tally, the game-winner, came in the first half off a pass from senior midfielder
Jenny Wessel (St. Louis, Missouri). Fitzler's second goal put the match out of reach as she found the back of the net off a quick pass from junior forward
Aisha Earle-Smith (Spring, Texas). The goals were the second and third of the season for Fitzler.
The Eagles took a 2-0 lead into halftime as freshman forward
Alisann Shetler (Evansville, Indiana) broke a two-match scoring slump with a goal at the 30:55 mark of the first half. Senior midfielder
Jill Hejlek (St. Louis, Missouri) crossed the ball into Shetler for the score.
USI will continue GLVC action next Friday, October 4, when the Eagles travel to the University of Missouri-St. Louis for a 7:30 p.m. match. The Eagles return to Strassweg Field a week from Sunday, October 6, to host Quincy University in a 2:30 p.m. contest.
