Seven different players recorded goals, two of which recorded a hat trick, as the University of Southern Indiana men's soccer team exploded for a 12-0 victory against Kentucky Wesleyan College this evening at Strassweg Field in Evansville, Indiana. The Screaming Eagles scored three goals in the first 10 minutes and nine in the first half as they raced away with their fourth straight win and third consecutive conference victory.
Seniors
John Havill (Washington, Indiana) and
Greg Henry (Troyes, France) recorded three goals each while fellow classmate
Duncan Bray (Shetland, Scotland) tied a school record with four assists. Henry scored USI's first two goals of the contest.
The 12 goals were the second highest total in school history. USI scored 14 goals against the University of Indianapolis in 1982.
With the win, The Screaming Eagles improve to 5-3 overall and 3-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The 3-0 mark is USI's best GLVC start since 1990. KWC falls to 0-6 overall and 0-2 in the GLVC.
The Eagles will travel to Kansas City, Missouri this Sunday, September 29, as they take on Rockhurst College. Match time is slated for 2 p.m.
