Junior setter
Kim Boehmer (Cincinnati, Ohio) recorded a match-high 39 assists and became USI's all-time leader in career assists (2,697) as the University of Southern Indiana volleyball team breezed by McKendree College, 3-0, this evening at the Physical Activities Center in Evansville, Indiana. The Screaming Eagles upped their record to 3-2 in their home opener while the Bearcats of McKendree fell to 0-1.
USI dominated the match, recording a .340 attacking percentage to go along with 17 service aces. Defensively, the Eagles held the Bearcats to a .000 attacking percentage while recording 52 digs.
Senior outside hitter
Shannon Wells (Merrillville, Indiana) recorded a match-high 16 kills and 12 digs while fellow classmate
Greta Grinstead (Mt. Vernon, Indiana) dished in a season-best 10 kills and 9 digs.
Wells also recorded four service aces while sophomore middle blocker
Leeanne Gross (Decatur, Indiana) finished with a match-high five service aces.
USI will spend the next month on the road as it competes in two tournaments and starts its conference season with three road matches. The Eagles will start with a trip to Memphis, Tennessee, this Friday and Saturday as they compete in the Christian Brothers University Tournament.
