HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. -- The University of Southern Indiana baseball team could not recover from surrendering four runs to Northern Kentucky University in the first inning, dropping an 11-2 decision Sunday afternoon in Highland Heights, Kentucky. USI falls to 15-23 overall and 8-13 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, while NKU reaches the .500 mark with a 19-19 record, 9-7 GLVC.
USI could only score two runs against NKU's Josh Whaley, who allowed just two runs (one earned) and six hits over nine innings. Eagles' junior left-handerÂ
Brian Anderson (Brazil, Indiana) (4-3) had a rough outing, allowing seven runs (five earned) over 4 1/3 innings of work.
The Eagles will return to Evansville to play their first home games in 10 days when they host Kentucky Wesleyan College for a doubleheader on Wednesday, April 17. Game time on Wednesday is noon.
Following Wednesday's doubleheader, USI will have three home dates left. The Eagles will host Oakland City University Thursday, April 25, for 3 p.m. contest and Saint Joseph's College Saturday and Sunday, April 27-28, for a three-game series.
