AUGUSTA, Ga. -- The University of Southern Indiana baseball team fell to 1-2 on the spring trip, losing to Augusta State University Wednesday afternoon in Augusta, Georgia. USI falls to 4-7 overall, while Augusta State goes to 17-5.
Augusta State got on the board with four runs in the first inning, but the Screaming Eagles fought back to tie the score in the top of the fourth. The Jaguars took over after the Eagles' fourth inning knocking in 12 runs to USI's two.
The Eagles were led in the loss by junior second basemanÂ
Adam Schiff (Evansville, Indiana), who was two-for-four with a run scored and junior first basemanÂ
Justin Konopacki (Ft. Wayne, Indiana), who was two-for-four with 2 RBIs. Senior shortstopÂ
Justin Ambs (Zionsville, Indiana) also posted two RBIs in a one-for-three performance.
USI will resume the spring trip on Thursday, March 7, when the team travels back to the University of South Carolina-Aiken for a 5 p.m. contest. The Eagles are scheduled to finish the road trip at Anderson College in Anderson, South Carolina on Friday, March 8.
The next home game will be a rescheduled doubleheader with Brescia University on Tuesday, March 12. Game time will be 1 p.m.
