University of Southern Indiana men's cross country runner
Joey Byrne (Georgetown, Indiana) ran an 8k time of 25:11.0 and finished first, out of 190 competitors, Saturday morning at the University of Louisville Cardinal Classic. Byrne's performance helped the USI men's team place third out of 18 teams.
Junior
Mark Thurner (Hebron, Indiana) helped USI's cause with a seventh-place showing. Thurner finished the 8k race with a time of 25:28.0
USI women's cross country runner
Jenny Farmer (Princeton, Indiana) ran a 5k time of 18:35.50 and placed eighth, out of 159 runners, to help lead the women's team to a fifth-place finish.
Freshman
Heather Cooksey (Brownsburg, Indiana) helped the women's squad with a 5k time of 18:49.90, placing her 18th in the field.
The Screaming Eagles will travel to Edwardsville, Illinois, Saturday, October 12, to compete in the Border Wars. It will be USI's final tune-up before traveling to Kenosha, Wisconsin, to partake in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships, Saturday, October 26.
