USI closes out 2002 season

McKendree 4, USI 1


The University of Southern Indiana women's soccer team closed out the 2002 season with a 4-1 loss to McKendree College Wednesday evening at Strassweg Field. The Screaming Eagles close out the 2002 season with a 8-10-0 overall record, while McKendree goes to 12-4-2.

The Bearcats took a 1-0 lead just 3:36 into off the foot of forward Kasey Stogdills. The Eagles evened the scored, 1-1, at the 26:47 mark on the eighth goal of the season by sophomore forward Courtney Reeder (Carbondale, Illinois).

Reeder finishes her first season with the Eagles as the team's leading scorer with 21 points on a team-high eight goals and five assists. She was assisted on the play by freshman back Amy Balczo (Evansville, Indiana).

McKendree retook the lead just before halftime, 2-1, at the 43:56 mark. Midfielder Amanda Kirksey scored the game winner off a pass from midfielder Erin Fiudo.

The second half was all McKendree as it put the game out of reach with a pair of goals. Fiudo scored at the 61:10 mark to make the score 3-1, while midfielder Jamie Dienell closed out the scoring for the 4-1 victory at 86:42.
