The University of Southern Indiana volleyball team claimed its fifth straight victory with a convincing 3-0 win over Quincy University Saturday afternoon at the Physical Activities Center in Evansville, Indiana. With the win, the Screaming Eagles improve to 16-6 overall and 5-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference while the Lady Hawks fall to 10-9 overall and 4-4 in the GLVC.

USI dominated the first game to claim a quick 1-0 lead in the match. The Eagles hit .342 and held QU to a .118 attacking percentage as it cruised to a 30-19 victory.

The Eagles wasted no time claiming a big lead in the second game as the serving hand of sophomore middle hitter Natalie Atzinger (Louisville, Kentucky) led the Eagles on a 6-0 run that put them on top 7-1. USI capitalized on Quincy's eight attacking errors and hit .444 to win game two, 30-12, and take a 2-0 lead in the match.

Atzinger finished the match with 11 kills—seven of which came in the third and finally game—and a .500 hitting percentage. She also recorded six digs and a match-high three blocks

In the third game, USI recorded 19 kills and hit .385 as it went onto a 30-16 victory in the game and 3-0 victory in the match.

Senior outside hitter Shannon Wells (Merrillville, Indiana) recorded a match-high 16 kills and tied junior outside hitter Ashley Riordan (Mt. Vernon, Indiana) for a match-high 10 digs.

The Eagles also saw offensive support from senior outside hitter Kristina Kavanugh (Montgomery, Indiana). Kavanaugh recorded 11 kills, a match-high .529 attacking percentage, and nine digs. She also finished with a match-high five service aces.

Junior setter Kim Boehmer (Cincinnati, Ohio) set up USI's offensive. Boehmer's match-high 35 assists led USI to 50 kills and a season-high .385 attacking percentage.

The Eagles will travel to St. Louis, Missouri, and Edwardsville, Illinois, next Friday and Saturday, October 25-26. USI will take on the University of Missouri-St. Louis Friday night before traveling east across the Mississippi River to take on Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Match times are 7 p.m. and 1 p.m., respectively.
