The University of Southern Indiana men's basketball team scored all of its 104 point in 34 minutes to defeat Wilberforce University, 104-60, Saturday afternoon at the Physical Activities Center. USI, which has won five in a row, raises its record to 10-4 overall, while Wilberforce falls to 4-13 overall.

The Screaming Eagles could not score in the first six minutes of the contest, allowing Wilberforce to jump out to an 8-0 lead. Senior center Ronnie Griffin (Louisville, Kentucky), who led USI with 20 points, scored the first points of the game for Eagles on a pair of free throws with 14:04 to play in the half.

After those free throws, USI broke out of its scoring slump, going on 7-1 run to tie the score at 9-9. Wilberforce retook the lead at 11-9 and 14-13 before USI began to build its 41-24 halftime lead.

In the second half, the Eagles were nearly perfect, shooting 72.7 percent from the field (24-33) while holding the Bulldogs to 36.8 percent (14-38).

The 104 points marks the fifth time the Eagles have gone over the century plateau this season. USI is 85-3 (.966) when it scores over 100 points since 1992-93. The Eagles also have won their last 31 games when scoring 100 points.

Griffin, who has hit for 20 or more in the last two games and for fourth time this season, was joined in double figures by three teammates. Freshman guard Cris Brunson (Evansville, Indiana) hit for 12 points, while sophomore forward Billy Harris (Carbondale, Illinois) and junior guard David Ragland (Evansville, Indiana) added 10 points each.

Senior forward Marlowe Currie (St. Louis, Missouri), who led the team with eight rebounds, had his double-digit scoring streak end at 35 games with a six-point performance this afternoon.

The Eagles will resume Great Lakes Valley Conference action on Thursday, January 10, when Quincy University visits the PAC. The women's game will begin at 5:15 p.m., while the men's game will be at 7:30 p.m.
