The University of Southern Indiana women's soccer teams ran into a roadblock in Rensselaer, Indiana, falling to Saint Joseph's College, 2-1, Sunday afternoon. The Eagles fall to 1-6-0 overall, 0-2-0 Great Lakes Valley Conference, while the Pumas raise their record to 2-4-1 overall, 1-1-0 GLVC.
The Eagles took a 1-0 lead into halftime on a goal by USI junior midfielder
Megan Fitzler (Maryland Heights, Missouri) at 32:40. The goal was the second of the season for Fitzler.
Fitzler scored off crossing passes from junior back
Aimee Muller (Hilton, New York) and senior forward
Kristen Light (Florissant, Missouri). The assist was the first of the year for Muller and the third of the season for Light.
The Pumas bounced back in the second half to score to tie the match 59:07 and the game winner at 82:56.
The USI soccer teams will resume action back at Strassweg Field Friday, September 21, in a GLVC doubleheader with the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. The doubleheader will begin with the women's game at 5 p.m., followed by the men's game at approximately 7:30 p.m.
