USI wins at Indianapolis

The University of Southern Indiana women's basketball team outscored the University of Indianapolis by 14 points in the second half to win on the road Thursday night, 80-68. USI raises its record to 7-2 overall, 4-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, while Indianapolis falls to 2-4 overall, 2-3 GLVC.

The Screaming Eagles, who trailed 28-26 at halftime and 32-26 three minutes into the second half, outscored the Greyhounds 54-40 in the second half for the victory.

Senior forward Casey Hughes (Bicknell, Indiana) led USI with a season-best 16 points. Hughes was followed by senior guard Jasmine Moore (Chicago, Illinois) and sophomore forward Jessica Stuckman (Quincy, Illinois) with 15 points each. Sophomore guard Erin Wall (New Albany, Indiana) continued to have the hot hand from the outside, dropping 13 points.

The Eagles continue to supplement a lack of rebounding with strong defense. USI forced the Greyhounds into 30 turnovers, but was out-rebounded for the seventh time in nine games. Only one squad this season has been able to get by USI with fewer than 27 turnovers in a contest.

USI will remain on the road, traveling to Highland Heights, Kentucky, to play third-ranked Northern Kentucky University Saturday, December 8. Game time is 4:30 p.m. (CST). The Eagles will return to the friendly confines of the Physical Activities Center Saturday, December 15, when they host Grace College in a 5:15 p.m. contest.
