The 10th ranked University of Southern Indiana women's basketball team won its 19th straight at the Physical Activities Center with a 100-84 victory over 14th ranked Northern Michigan University Tuesday night. USI raises its record 9-3 overall, while Northern Michigan falls to 4-2.

The Screaming Eagles built an overwhelming lead from the opening tip-off with a 13-2 run in the first four minutes. The Eagles built the lead to as many as 22 points on two different occasions in the first half and led at halftime, 57-39.

Northern Michigan made a run at USI in the opening minutes of the second half, cutting the lead to nine points, 57-48, by scoring the first nine points of the half. USI responded with a 14-6 run of its own to build the lead by back 17-point, 71-54, with 14:12 to play.

The Eagles cruised the rest of the game, building leads of 25 points four times. The Wildcats cut the lead back to 16 points with an 11-3 run in the final five minutes of the game for the final score of 100-84.

The USI victory marked the fourth time in a row that the Eagles had beaten Northern Michigan.

Senior forward Casey Hughes (Bicknell, Indiana) and sophomore forward Jessica Stuckman (Quincy, Illinois) led USI with 22 points each. Hughes moved into the top six all-time in scoring at USI with her first two points of the evening and has 1,184 career-points over three-plus seasons.

Hughes and Stuckman were followed in double-figure scoring by junior center Africa Sherrod (Ft. Lauderdale, Florida) with 18 points, while senior center Michelle Irwin (Louisville, Kentucky) tied a career-best with 17 points.

The Eagles are off for the Christmas holidays until Friday, December 28, when they host the University of Illinois-Springfield in a special 6 p.m. contest at the PAC. Following Friday's game, USI will return to the road for another Great Lakes Regional contest when it travels to Ferris State University for a 2 p.m. game Sunday, December 30.

The next Great Lakes Valley Conference game for the Eagles will be Thursday, January 3, when Kentucky Wesleyan College visits the PAC for a 5:15 p.m. match-up.
