USI uses 31-10 run to defeat Lewis

The University of Southern Indiana women's basketball team used a 31-10 run to begin the second half in a an 83-53 victory over Lewis University Thursday night at the Physical Activities Center. USI raises its record to 5-2 overall and 2-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, while Lewis falls to 2-3 overall, 0-3 GLVC.

The Screaming Eagles led by as many as 13 points in the first half and led 35-24 at halftime before the second half offensive explosion. USI extended the lead to 34 points on three different occasions in the second half, outscoring the Flyers 48-29 in the second frame.

The Eagles were led by sophomore forward Jessica Stuckman (Quincy, Illinois), who reached 20-points in a game for the fourth time this season. Stuckman led the Eagles with 20 points, 10 rebounds and was second on the squad with four assists and three steals.

Senior forward Michelle Irwin (Louisville, Kentucky) and sophomore guard Erin Wall (New Albany, Indiana) followed Stuckman in double figures with career highs. Irwin posted a career-high 17 points, while Wall dropped in a career-best 15 points, including three three-point field goals.

Defensively, USI had 15 steals and two blocks as a team while forcing Lewis into 36 turnovers. Senior guard Jasmine Moore (Chicago, Illinois) led the Eagles with four steals.

The next action for the Eagles will be Saturday, December 1, when they host the University of Wisconsin-Parkside for 1 p.m. contest. USI will return to the road next week, traveling to the University of Indianapolis on Thursday, December 6, and Northern Kentucky University on Saturday, December 8.
