Bryan Phillips begins his first season as an assistant coach with the University of Southern Indiana men’s and women’s cross country/track coaching staff. Phillips will assist Head Coach Mike Hillyard in all aspects of the program.

Prior to joining the coaching staff, Phillips earned All-America honors as a senior after finishing 39th at the NCAA II Cross Country Championships in 2008. In his one season of competition at USI, Phillips became one of the Screaming Eagles’ top runners as he also earned All-GLVC and All-Midwest Region honors.

A native of Kokomo, Indiana, Phillips finished fourth at both the GLVC and NCAA II Midwest Region meets before going on to earn second-team All-GLVC honors in outdoor track in 2009.

The All-GLVC performer in both cross country and track transferred to USI from Anderson University (Anderson, Indiana) where he earned NCAA III All-Region honors as a junior in 2006. Prior to Anderson, Phillips was an NCAA I national qualifier at Butler University where he began his collegiate career.

Phillips is currently working on a bachelor’s degree in exercise science.
