ST. LOUIS—Sophomore
McKenna Cavanaugh (New Albany, Indiana) posted a first-place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase to lead University of Southern Indiana Women's Track & Field at the WashU Distance Carnival Friday.
Cavanaugh was one of three Screaming Eagles to post an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying time on the night as she finished the race in 10 minutes, 53.66 seconds. Junior
Kara Martin (Herrin, Illinois) was fourth in the event, narrowly missing a provisional mark with her time of 11:08.39.
Sophomores
Cameron Hough (Olney, Illinois) and
Lauren Greiwe (West Harrison, Indiana) joined Cavanaugh in recording provisional qualifying times. Hough was second in the 5,000 meters with a qualifying time of 16:51.60, while Greiwe was fourth in the same event with a qualifying time of 16:57.24.
USI returns to action Saturday when it competes at the Joey Haines Invitational in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
