LOUISVILLE, Ky.—Senior All-American
Jennifer Comastri (Indianapolis, Indiana) posted an NCAA II provisional qualifying time in the mile to lead University of Southern Indiana Women's Track & Field at the Bellarmine Open Friday afternoon.
Comastri finished first with a time of four minutes, 57.00 seconds to secure 10 team points for the Screaming Eagles, who finished third with 47.5 points.
Junior
Kara Martin (Herrin, Illinois) was fourth in the mile and was one of six top-five efforts for the Eagles, who posted a second-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay. Martin also was a member of the 4x400-meter team, which set a school-record with its time of 4:05.72. The team also included sophomore
Emma Brown (Evansville, Indiana) as well as freshmen
Audrey Comastri (Indianapolis, Indiana) and
Mallory Wittmer (Evansville, Indiana).
The Eagles also got top-five performances from freshman
Margaret Schulten (Oakland City, Indiana), sophomore
Emily Papandria (Indianapolis, Indiana) and junior
Georgianna Roeder (McKinney, Texas).
Schulten was third in the high jump with a leap of five feet, one inch, while Papandria was third in the weight throw with a toss of 44'02.00". Roeder was fourth in the shot put with a heave of 32'11.75".
USI heads back to Louisville next Friday to compete at the Campbellsville Invitational at the Norton Sports Complex.
